We had a great time with a herd of Fed Ex Employees! They got 3 trees cut down and cleaned up and 3 piles of branches burned! what a hard working group! I can't wait for them to come out again. A huge thanks goes out to United Way as they hooked us up through Hands On Central Texas!
They got to have fun with a team building activity with Mr Jiggles and Brownie (both of whom were absolutely amazing team members!).
Welcome to Cool Man and Honey D. They arrived on Monday and have been settling in quite well. They were a mess when they got here and will need a bunch of work before they get into the program. Honey's tail was one big matt and it literally took two hours to brush out. Cool Man's feet are so much worse than what I remember them being when we looked at them 3 weeks ago! They have had little to no attention in the past year or longer, but they are young and have the potential for many years helping our riders!
Honey D is a 7 year old lineback dun Quarter Horse Mare. She is a big girl and once she gets into shape will be able to carry some of our heavier riders.
Our volunteers are all of this and more! Thank you for all you do!
Another busy crazy day for me, but it was so much fun. After feeding with the estate sale. Thanks so much to Sharon, Bill, John, Lauren, Rob, and Michael for all of your help!
We had a great group out for horse handler training. Everyone started out nervous having never really worked with horses and everyone got checked off as horse handlers. I am so proud of this group! Signed up 2 feeding teams just from this training!
The Estate sale was a huge success and will continue on with drastically reduced prices tomorrow to sell the remaining awesome items!
Thank you, Joyce Miley, John D'Andrea, Sharon Thater, the Spectors, the Foights, and Lauren Reynolds, and anyone else that in my exhaustion have forgotten, for all that donated to the sale!
We learned some valuable lessons today at the ranch.
When it is raining HARD , volunteers, students, teachers of students, ... (you get my drift) should not drive across the low water crossing to get to the arena and feed trailer. Can you guess why? Yup, Ms. Duffield got her Chevrolet SUV stuck in the mud
Though, sometimes I get frustrated with my FORD F-250 truck, it was able to pull that Chevy out of the mud! What a good little truck
When it is raining and cold, you need to wear a hood. Otherwise, cold rain runs down the back of your collar. Brrr!
Thank you for the rain and that it came today! Thank you for a forecasted dry and sunny weekend! We have been super busy getting ready for the Estate Sale Fundraiser!
Spent the day bringing the furniture that we stored in our rental house down to the ranch to put in the estate sale. Thanks to Sharon and Michael Thater, we were able to move it all in one load!
We are adding a dining room set, a leather like sofa with 2 recliners as well as a matching single recliner, a dresser and matching armoire, 3 single bed frames with mattress and box spring and a single head board that's got to be 50+ years old. There are also a couple of pretty nice area rugs and even a vintage coke machine! Then after unloading everything, we headed to the Spector's and picked up a couple of kids bikes, a washer and dryer that are almost new, and even some photography developing equipment! There's still more coming, too! Everyone has been so generous!
The Estate Sale Fundraiser should prove to be pretty amazing. Come check out and buy some great things Saturday, April 20th from 7-2! Remember, all the proceeds from this sale go to feeding the horses and putting bottoms in saddles!
We had the best team! Jennifer and Leslie helped prep the 2 most amazing horses, Rocky and Romney yesterday. Michael helped fix the flat tire on the ramp yesterday so that the athletes could get on their horses! That was a bit of a fiasco, but it got fixed! Melissa ended up running back to the ranch to get the things that we forgot and then did the most awesome job banding Rocky's mane! Janine and Cindy were awesome horse handlers. Sharon, Coltin, Bill took such good care of the horses when they were at the trailer! And Ashley was such an amazing supporter and instructor to Matt, Anna, and Rees!
