There is nothing scarier than receiving a call from the Sheriffs' Department about a report of a horse loose on FM973 except receiving that call when I was out of state!  Yup! That happened last week when I was in Philadelphia and Ashley was on vacation!

I immediately got on the phone and called Melissa, Mary, Cassandra, Bill, and Lisa and they dropped everything and came to my rescue!  Lisa did several drive-by's and reported that she saw no loose horses on the road.  So Mary, Melissa, and Cassandra went out to the back 40 to do a head count.   All horses were accounted for and no extras were found!  Bill then went and did a fence check to make sure that there were no breaks in the fence line.  All was good.  After about 45 minutes, I called the Sheriffs' Department and they confirmed that they also saw no loose horse on the road.  It must have been a false alarm!

What an amazing family of volunteers that drop everything to help out and take care of our wonderful horses!  Thank you Melissa, Mary, Cassandra, Bill, and Lisa for loving our horses as much as I do!

On September 3, 2013 my father passed away.  He was the man that made me the person I am today.

Like all children, I thought my dad was too over protective, was not supportive enough, and sometimes he was just mean.  I always wanted to do better, be more, not be held back because I was a girl.  I was going to parent differently... better.  As a parent I realized how right he was about so many things (drats!)!  I protected my children like a mama bear.  Over protective, I think not!  (Kim and Nick would probably say how wrong that statement is,)  I definitely wanted to support my children in their schooling and athletics and became the volunteer of the century.  John would say that I went a bit overboard!
