The horse trailer is hitched to the truck. Saddles, pads, girths, and stirrups are loaded into the trailer. Water buckets and feed pans, muck bucket and pitch fork are load as well. We've got the banners and the poster for TWS and for the stalls. All of the volunteer, student, and horse paperwork has been gathered and is securely in the trailer also. Clothes are packed, got my helmet, boots are a little bit dirty, but they will have to do. Got the bungee cords for the fans and the extension cords as well. Shoot! I forgot the table for the tack room and our information booth and the chairs for chillin' on. Good thing I thought about that tonight. We must remember those in the morning.
Once we get there, it will be time for stall set up, clipping and then bathing, mane pulling, getting Rocky and Romney comfy in their new environment. Matt and Bill will have a lesson in the warm up arena. Horses will get fed and then off to Texas World Speedway to set up an information table there.
Saturday morning will start with the Opening Ceremony. Horses will get groomed to within an inch of their lives and then they will get tacked up. Anna wil go into English Equitation and then she and Matt will do their trail rides. Matt has to wait a little bit and then he goes into Western Equitation and then we're done, ... almost! Because then we need to load up everything back into the horse trailer, load up the horses and then come home and unload everything and feed the herd! Horse shows are a lot of work, but so worth it as our riders get to show off all that they have accomplished. They get to
do something that their friends may never have the opportunity to do.
I will be staying there to go back to TWS to tell everyone at the track about what we do and how much therapeutic riding benifits our riders. The Drivers Edge is sponsoring Healing with Horses Ranch during their Charity Drives this weekend. For $25 you can go for a 25 minute drive at speed with one of the Instructors or an experienced driver! All of the proceeds will go to Healing with Horses Ranch!
