She has been getting more uncomfortable around people, but is still so sweet. As I was watching her in a very independent lesson, I noticed that she would kind of spastically twitch her head. After doing a lot of reading I am determined that she does indeed have this heads shakers syndrome. For those that know me, you know that I am a very visual teacher, so here I go again!
This syndrome is caused by an over sensitive nerve in her head. This makes her feel like there is a fly bugging in her nose! It's triggered by photo-sensitivity, so the longer days and increased daylight has exasperated the situation.
- As far as I can tell, there is no cure for this, but a few things may make her more comfortable.
- Put on a uv blocking fly mask
- covering her nose
So for those of you who have asked why she is wearing the fly mask, this is the reason. The fly mask is kind of like wearing sunglasses, so yes, she can see through it! She even went to Special Olympics wearing it!
