Well, Rocky must have found one of the probably bazillion nails on the property. He is lame. The poor man! It's a good thing I have my favorite farrier, Jeff Smith,on call. He gave me some ichthamol (nasty, smelly, sticky drawing agent) and will come out tomorrow if Rocky doesn't feel better. I found out that it is really hard to hold a flashlight, hold up a hoof to keep it out of the mud, smear gunk, and then ducttape it with not very sticky duct tape! Unfortunately, I know that my work will only last about 15 minutes!
Other than that, the horses have settled in and seem very relaxed here. Tomorrow I am heading to Killeen to pick up some tack that isn't being used from REACH thanks to my friend Larry Barrnett! Hopefully I will be able to ride on Thursday! Keep your fingers crossed that the rain holds out!
(My fellow Texans, am I allowed to say that I am tired of rain yet?)
