It has been so hot this summer, but when you cross over the creek it is shady and peaceful. We are coming up on owning this land for a year now and I love it more every day! It certainly has made me question my sanity. What was I thinking? Starting this amazing non-profit was challenging enough, but this land needs so much work and I have decided that I am old! :)
We have cut down easily 30-40 trees and mulched a lot of them. There are still lots of dead trees that need to come down though. Now we are busy marking them to cut down when it is cooler! We will probably have multiple bonfires when the burn ban gets lifted! I hope to see everyone out here to enjoy those bonfires!
The arena footing is pretty good now with the addition of the mulch. We have an Eagle Scout working on the arena fencing. I can't wait for that to get done! Now we are working on fencing for the horses and we still need to finish the shelters that we have started!
The picnic grove is looking good. We have 2 Dell groups coming out next week to finish that clean up and to work on the trails. The trails are amazing. I love being able to take our riders out of the arena out into the natural setting of the trees. It is so relaxing and peaceful!
TX DOT came back out and brought more loads of asphalt midlings to us. Our driveway is easily traversable now. No more mud, no more twisted ankles walking down the hill to the creek! I can't tell you how grateful I am to this wonderful crew of men!
We also have a new gate with an electric opener. You still have to get out of your car to open the gate, but now all you have to do is push a button and wala it magically opens and closes.
John has gratiously given me the building office, so I officially have a real office. It's kind of cluttered right now, but at least files are safely stored and I have a place to spread out!
I can't wait to see everyone at our Open House on September 29th to show off what we have accomplished this year!
