It's over. The adrenaline rush has settled. I'm tired and my feet hurt, but what a great day.
It rained for a few minutes this morning. Some of my volunteers thought I was crazy when I said that we were going to go on even in the rain. But just as the first rider was getting on, the rain stopped and they were off to ride the over 2 mile trail ride with 20 obstacle or challenges.
Matt, Michael, and Robin started us out. Tracy, John, and Mary Lu took up the second leg. Sophie led the trail ride for our newest rider Alex. Anna rode out with Lisa and Ashley and Bill, Cindy, and Sophie (agian) finished us out.
Rocky was the champ and went out twice. He was SO good! Leslie and Nick were great supporters. Romney, Mr Jiggles, Okie, Avalon, Dawn, and Cool Man also got to participate. All the others (Gwen, Honey, Oreo, Brownie, and Holly) got to wish everyone safe trails as they came up to the water trough. The horses proved that you can ride a horse to water, but you can't make them drink!
The scariest part of the trail to the Ranch horses were the people. What the heck were they doing on the trail. Well our amazing volunteers were giving out raffle tickets for every obstacle completed. Michael won the $50 bill, Bill won the chamo fannypack, Tracee, and 2 others (boy I'm tired!) won the HEB gift cards, Sonic card, and StarBuck card. Leslie won the volunteer raffle prize (a nice bottle of wine), but she will have to wait a few months before she can enjoy that! Sophie won the top fundraiser prize of a LazarArt horse wall art!
It was exciting to have KVUE come out and interview Bill, Sophie, Stephen and myself. I'm excited that we are getting word out about how horses can be so powerful in healing the body, mind, and soul! http://www.kvue.com/news/Healing-with-Horses-Ranch-raises-money-in-trail-a-thon-210769701.html
Thank you to EVERYONE that attended and supported Healing with Horses Ranch!
