It's crazy how much we have dne since my last blog entry!
Thursday our house finally sold! Now we can breathe a little bit! We won't be able to build a house on the property for a while, but living in the RV is actually pretty comfy! We're not in any hurry
Yesterday, Matt had an awesome lesson. He played follow the leader with Ashley and was trotting and doing 2pt over a little cross rail and had so much fun!
Then, Ashley and I went to look at Lilianna's horse, Lacrosse. He is amazing and she is wanting to donate him to the Ranch! He is a 25 year old Arabian gelding and is super talented! Thank you Lilianna for considering Healing with Horses Ranch for your man!
Another day of learning today! I learned at least 2 things today.
The first, practice does not always make perfect. I spent 2 hours trying to clean up the body clip job that I did on Shadow. It is far from perfect!
The second, thanks to Stephen Spector, I learned that I could allow viewers to scroll to parts of a page on the website and thanks to John D'Andrea I learned how to do it! http://www.healingwithhorsesranch.org/shop/39363 Check out our Ride-a-Thon Donation page. Go head and make a donation if you are so inspired! This will be updated regularly as donations are made, and as stories come in, ... I am kind of proud how you can scroll down to stories of our team leaders! Now I need John to show me how to get back to the top of the page, but he's sleeping. That will happen tomorrow!
I could have gotten at least 2 more round bales that would have been donated and maybe even more :(, but I could not keep the hay buggy any longer! I had to return it to R.O.C.K. after having borrowed it for far too long! Thanks for your patience, R.O.C.K.
We have had to back out of at least one horse show and one visitation with the minis in the past month because we don't have a horse trailer.
I had a tremendous day today! Julia likes me. She really likes me! It has been a day that I have been waiting for, but really didn't think that I was going to win her over. Others on her team had won her over, but not me... until today. Can you tell that I am doing a little happy dance?! It;s amazing what a little candy will do :)-
I also got to ride today and had a great ride on Dawn with Lilianna on Avlon. Ashley has been doing a great job putting Avalon and Dawn into boot camp. Dawn was moving forward and was balanced and only told me "no" one time! We went back on the new trail that Mark J created back by the future hay field, did some trail blaing, and practiced some of the elements of the trail obstacle challenge!
Whew, it was hot out there today and it's only the second day of Spring! Now mind you, I am not complaining! I just didn't expect it to be so hot!
We had fun in Matt's class today. He had a great ride on Avalon. In fact, he chose Avalon. That was surprising since he had the option of riding his favorite horse, Rocky! We went on an Easter egg hunt and found all of the eggs. To get the eggs he found he had to get Avalon across the bridge. Matt succeeded, but Avalon stalled! They stayed like this long enough for Avalon to fall asleep!
I got the grass on the trails cut and watered the rose bushes (yes, I am very proud of myself on that one!) so the girls could go on a trail ride on the back 40 trail so that we could stay in the shade. It is so fun to watch confidence blossoming in these 2 girls that had their confidence stripped away! They are not the same girls that came to the ranch 6 months ago!
Today, Bill and Sharon came out. Sharon did some data entry for me (thank you so much Sharon for doing what I hate to do!) and Bill got to love on some horses! Rocky never ceases to amae me when I watch him interact with others who need him. He just gets so relaxed and calm. It's good to see him loving his job.Caleb and Ellie Jean had fun on their Easter egg hunt. It's wonderful to watch their growth. They know their colors now sonext will be letters! Ellie Jean is getting pretty good about riding unhooked and both Caleb and EJ LOVE trotting now!
Happy Spring! Spring was celebrated early this morning with a storm that brought hail and the very welcomed rain!
Hopefully this will lead to the burn ban being lifted soon! With all the wind and rain that we have had lately the dead trees and branches are coming down on there own! This has led to more clearing of the once pristine parkland. So now we have more piles of branches to get rid of.
I spent most of the day doing paperwork that is much over due. I was writing thank you's for our Amplify Austin event!
What an amazing experience it was to be a part of I Live Here I Give Here's event. Because we were a part of this historical event, we were able to get additional training on online giving not to mention the publicity of being a part of such a huge event.
As I went back to feed the horses tonight, I couldn't help but marvel at how green it is suddenly. The trees are all starting to get their Spring leaves. I shouldn't say all as it is getting obvious which trees are dead. II's time to start makring the trees tat are dead so that we can start cutting them down and it's time to start grass cutting.
Rocky is doing well and is back out with the herd. We need to keep his food wet to avoid his choking ever again. It is a small price to pay. He is done
Happy St Patty's Day! And what a beautiful day it was!
We got a lot accomplished today and that felt good! Thanks to Michael, Coltin, Sharon, Ashley, Keith, and John, we got the West Campus trenched, pvc pipe laid, and the trench covered so we have water all the way over to the round pen!
