It seems like it has been a slow 2 weeks. It has definitely been rainy and muddy. I am very tired of that!
We built a round pen on the east campus (the 973 side of the creek). Now no matter how muddy it is, we can still have classes. We have used it for each of the 4 classes we have had the past 2 weeks.
Thanks to Melissa Fox, Healing with Horses Ranch is a delegation with Special Olympics (HWH-13). We will be taking at least 1 athlete (and maybe 2) to Special Olympics regional and Chapter (state) games! Any of our volunteers who wants to volunteer with Healing with Horses Ranch at Special Olympics should "Get Involved" at www.sotx.org as a Class A Volunteer!
We are up to 5 registered students which is right about on track with our goals. I have been asked to make a presentation to Little Tesorus Therapy Center, so hopefully soon they will start sending referrals to Healing with Horses Ranch!
We had to cancel one volunteer workday due to rain, but we should have a BIG group coming out on Saturday. I am looking forward to seeing a big dent made. We should have at least 2 groups coming out in March for perimeter fence clearing and strengthening.
And inspite of what happened two weeks ago, I have looked at 2 horses that I really like and have at least 2 more to look at to be potential therapy horses. I am very honored and do not take this responsibility lightly! We have got to finish some more pastures before I can bring them in though! When it dries out (if it ever dries out) we need to get our branch piles mulched for arena footing.
