It's been an interesting week.
Lesson 1 got postponed due to the 2" of rain that fell out of the skies on Monday. I thought we were home free with our creek crossing. At 8AM, after raining all night HARD, the water was easily 2' below the top of the bridge! It's amazing what a ffew hours can make. At 4PM I went out to feed the horses only to have to wade through 6" of water. Craziness!
Tuesday, I woke up to the bridge being clear of water! We decided to continue to cancel the lesson since it was so muddy. Melissa Fox, Lisa Block, and Ravyn Finch came out anyway and we got to put all of the horses through the de-sensitization testing where all of the horses passed with flying colors! We continued with the testing of the horses by going on a nice little trail blazing trail ride. Since there were 4 of us, I decided to break all of the rules and let Playboy join us on the trail ride where he had fun leading the party! Melissa, Lisa, and Ravyn also did their skills testing to become Horse Handlers, and are officially on the feeder team and conditioning team!
Wednesday I spent the day getting water to the otherside of the creek. What a pain is all I can say, but it's better than lugging water by hand. The rain caused a bit of washout on the bridge so we need to do some preventative repairs before we drive across the bridge currently.
Thursday was exciting as when I went down to feed the horses, I met my neighbors long horn bulls! I tried to put them in the round pen, but they could step over the rails so that didn't work! Lisa Foight and I tried to do a cattle drive. That was a lot of fun, Rocky and Gabby were wonderful, but in the end we were unsuccessful. Lisa also did her skills testing to become a Horse Handler and is officially on the feeder team and conditioning team!
Friday, Dawn and I went out to survey whether the bulls were still here, ... they were. Dawn was a very good girl out on trail all by herself! I was able to contact their owners and I think that they are home now! (I hope!) The office(the geust house/RV) is working well as is the tack room/feed room (Taylor Doll's horse trailer) though it is a bit small!
