After hearing about the possibility of receiving a major donation of mounting ramps and tack, I called AJ to ask if she was up for a road trip. She immediately said “let’s roll!” and then asked when and where. Michael heard that we were going, so he offered to come and help do some lifting.
Where? We were going to The Davis Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center in Ft Davis, TX out by Big Bend National Parks. It is about 7 hours away (when you don’t get lost). Let me tell you, there is a whole lot of nothing between here and Ft. Davis!
So after volunteering all day on Saturday, Michael and AJ were here at the ranch by 6:15am (they were late ;) ) on Sunday. We spent all day entertaining each other by tossing M&M’s at Michael when he dozed off or singing (though a bit of key) at the top of our lungs and generally just having fun.
We arrived at The Davis Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center to get to take apart two 30’ mounting ramps and pack up the truck with all of the tack and other assorted donated items and then enjoyed a delicious dinner with Fonda.
Today, (I think it’s Monday), we got up at 6:30 (I overslept) and got back on the road. By the time we got home, we were all ready to get away from each other! Michael got us lost as the navigator (not really Michael’s fault, but we really did not go the right way home) and then when we were just an hour from home, the ramp straps got loose and one even broke. My feet are still vibrating from the bumpy roads.
I love my friends! Thank you AJ and Michael. I love you both more than you can imagine!
