![]() by Patty Wow! How is it that it has been 2 months since my last blog?! So much has happened. First, I am sad! My nephew Bill has started to work 6 days a week so he hasn't been coming on weekends. Worked slowed down a lot when he stopped coming. :( We are continuing to clear out dead trees and brush. Hopefully next week we will be mulching the branches for the arena footing. Go figure it rained last week so we had to postpone and now the creek crossing is washed out so we had to postpone again. We have it scheduled for next week, but it is supposed to rain again. Now mind you, I am not complaining about the rain that we so desperately need, but REALLY! The creek has been my quandaries! While I was at the PATH Intl conference we decided that there must be a rogue beaver that likes to play head games with me! Bucky opens up his dam and the creek rises. Just when I think he tires of the game and there is no water on the crossing, he opens it up again! Well we are working on foiling his antics by improving the crossing. We started by adding 3 15" culverts, but that wasn't good enough. Now we are starting from scratch and puting in 3 24" culverts in addition to the 3 15 " culverts. We have PILES of road base and clay to go on top of the pipe and then concrete over that. Soon, all will safely be able to cross the creek!
We have also started fencing the pastures. One is done, but not the way I want it to be done. I can envision nice pipe fencing with no climb wire fencing each of the pastures that follow the ranch road. The fields will be like those in KY with a 12' alley way in between each field so we can ride all over the 43 acres. This weekend, I think we will fence off the field on the 973 side of the creek. The round pen will have to suffice for now until we can afford to buy panels for the arena. But I was excited when a portable ramp was donated to Healing with Horses Ranch! We are ready to go now, ... well... almost! I still need to get the horses down there! We still need to construct shelters, so if anyone knows of any Eagle Scouts prospects, Healing with Horses Ranch has some projects for them! |
