Summer Ranch Roundup: Healing With Horses Offers Comfort & Connection in a Season of Recovery

July 29, 2025

Summer is flying by at Healing with Horses Ranch, and like many in Central Texas, the team is feeling both gratitude and grief. The devastating floods over the Fourth of July weekend left a mark on the region, and the Ranch extends its deepest condolences to everyone affected by the loss and destruction.

In response to the disaster, Healing with Horses Ranch is offering free equine-assisted self-care sessions for flood survivors, first responders, and anyone directly impacted by the disaster. These trauma-informed sessions are designed to ease emotional burdens through the power of the horse. Facilitated by licensed professional counselors and PATH International Certified Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning, the sessions are open to all ages and families are encouraged to attend together. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

In brighter news, the Ranch recently celebrated a new partnership with 7Brew Coffee in Manor. At their June 14th grand opening and ribbon cutting, 7Brew honored the Ranch with a generous show of support toward its mission. Special thanks go to Gael, Tigerlily, Peyton, and the entire 7Brew team. Keep an eye out for the 7Brew team at fall events at the Ranch.

Additionally in June, a team of 75 volunteers from Deloitte spent their Annual Impact Day at the Ranch by tackling important maintenance projects with great enthusiasm. As a surprise treat, 7Brew Coffee showed up with custom drinks for the hardworking crew. It was a perfect example of the community spirit that keeps Healing with Horses Ranch going strong.

The Ranch has hosted two breast cancer survivor groups since May, continuing its mission to offer healing and connection through equine-assisted services. Looking ahead to the fall, the growing counseling team will be offering a variety of new info sessions, workshops, & trainings open to the community.

In equine news, beloved therapy horse Casper recently underwent surgery at Texas A&M to remove a floating bone fragment from his leg. Thanks to expert veterinary care collaboration and the Ranch’s attentive staff, Casper is recovering well and is expected to return to the program pain-free and ready to work very soon.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the Ranch’s dedicated volunteers. Rain or shine, they feed horses twice a day, clean stalls and water troughs, mow, weed, repair fences, and tackle endless behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the Ranch safe, beautiful, and operational. There’s no job too big or too small. We thank each and every volunteer for showing up with selfless hearts.
