Earlier this year, Healing with Horses Ranch faced a significant loss when their newly-refurbished RV trailer was stolen from the property. While the RV has yet to be recovered, something unexpected and uplifting followed. After learning about the incident on the news, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association® TX 23-7 “Capital of Texas” chapter arrived on their motorcycles and presented the Ranch with a $10,000 donation. Their generosity will be going toward replacing the stolen RV and gave the team a much-needed boost in morale. Healing with Horses Ranch was happy to welcome the group in person to say thank you.
Community support continued with the Ranch’s First Annual Crawfish Boil, benefitting equine-assisted services for veterans and first responders. On Saturday, May 3rd, the event drew a crowd of 90 for an afternoon of fun and community. Musician and long-time volunteer of the Ranch, Vanessa Salazar, sang and played live while guests dug into crawfish, sausage, corn, potatoes, and bread pudding. Attendees toured the barn, played horse poop bingo, and took part in a lively auction.
The Ranch also welcomed a new sponsor this season. 7Brew Coffee, opening soon in Manor, will be presenting a $2,500 check to support the Ranch’s mission. A ribbon-cutting celebration is planned for Friday, June 13th, with one of the Ranch horses there in person to help mark the occasion. The Ranch looks forward to future collaborations with 7Brew.
On the education front, the Ranch hosted a three day Therapeutic Riding Instructor intensive training over Memorial Day weekend. Founder Patty D’Andrea led four instructor trainees through classroom lessons and hands-on sessions with the horses. On the final day, volunteers came out to support mock lessons, taking on roles as students, side walkers, and horse handlers. The trainees gained valuable experience and demonstrated strong teaching skills under pressure.
Behind the scenes, volunteer groups have continued to make a big impact. Crews have been hard at work clearing brush, tackling barn chores, and making needed repairs. These teams help the Ranch stay safe, functional, and welcoming for riders and visitors. As summer approaches, Healing with Horses Ranch is moving full speed ahead. With community at its back and momentum on its side, the Ranch is focused on growth, service, and changing lives.
